Day 55/180: continuation of the lab, and the lab curse
Lab curse. Today, almost none of my students’ experiments from yesterday had turned black overnight: most were still blue. I’d even “spiked” many of them with extra base yesterday. All we can figure out is that my room is so cold that they just didn’t react.
But here’s the cool thing for the day: one pair of lab partners did not heed my warning about reading labels on the acid bottles and added the wrong kind to their experiment. They searched for their new products online and found a lab similar to ours that actually did it their way. Instead of precipitating their product with zinc, they followed new directions with aluminum, and changed their reactions accordingly. Awesome initiative.
